PENGEMBANGAN PERANGKAT PERKULIAHAN ENGLISH FOR MATHEMATICS BAGI MAHASISWA PENDIDIKAN MATEMATIKA

This research aims to develop a learning device for the subject of English for Mathematics which is valid and practical. The validity refers to the compatibility of the learning device with the expected students’ competence, while the practicality refers to the successful implementation of the device. The device developed here were syllabus, mathematics dictionary, and test. This research adopted R&D model by Plomp which consists of stages: (1) initial investigation, (2) design, (3) construction, (4) test, evaluation and revision. In the initial investigation stage, we found that the device needed for this subject shall accommodate the integration of reading, writing, listening and speaking ability in the field of mathematics education. In the design and construction stages, we are successful to produce the prototype of syllabus, mathematics dictionary, and test. Further, we addressed the prototype to validator and got feed that the aspect of reading need to be strengthened in the scope of mathematics education, while the rest of the aspects are good and ready to be tested. However, overall the device get score 4.64 which means valid. The students’ response shows that 66.7% response positively which means that the device is practical
