José Lanciego, Arzobispo de México, y el Clero Regular durante la transición eclesiástica del reinado de Felipe V, 1712-1728

This article presents a review of the management of Mexico’s Archbishop Jose Lanciego in front of the archbishopric in relation to the ecclesiastical policy of Philip V and the regular clergy. Lanciego well known for representing the interests of the new monarchy in the Indian Church, which resulted in strengthening the authority of the bishops at the expense of the traditional power of religious orders. He is also known for encouraging their clergy, reinforcing the authority of the ecclesiastical judges, favoring the division of parishes and doctrines and trying the secularization of 60 doctrines. But while this last did not prosper it actually helped to set in the real agenda the issue of lost discipline of religious orders, which came about in 1749 with the royal decree ordering the secularization of Indian doctrines.En este artículo se plantea una revisión sobre la gestión del arzobispo de México José Lanciego al frente del arzobispado en relación con la política eclesiástica de Felipe V y el clero regular. Lanciego se destaca por representar bien los intereses de la nueva monarquía en la Iglesia indiana, lo que se tradujo en reforzar la autoridad de los obispos en detrimento del poder tradicional de las órdenes religiosas. También, por favorecer a su clero, reforzar la autoridad de los jueces eclesiásticos, apoyar la división de curatos y doctrinas e intentar la secularización de sesenta de ellas. Si bien esto último no prosperó, contribuyó a fijar en la agenda real el asunto de la disciplina perdida de las órdenes religiosas, que devino en 1749 con la real cédula que ordenaba la secularización de doctrinas en Indias
