La Farmacia: de la Física a la Biología. La existencia de .fantasmas.

The scientific and philosophical problem about the dependence or independence of Biology from Physics constitutes a historical constant since the initial founding of both disciplines as modern sciences. The development of the problem along the second half of twentieth century has been taken as a guide for this study. The perspective chosen is that suggested by the nature of both scientific disciplines, and it is made through the literary recourse to the .phantoms. introduced by Schrödinger. The frame of reference is two-dimensional: with historical and Spanish coordinates. Two opposite but convergent attitudes towards this issue have flourished along history: the expansionism of Physics towards Biology, and the reductionism of Biology to Physics. At the present moment genetic reductionism and molecular reductionism are governing in Biology. The conclusion is sound: the knowledge of the structural constitution of matter - or of the elements which constitute a certain system- is not enough for knowing the complete complex system, with its intrinsic relationships and its behaviour in and at the face of its environment. This is confirmed not only in Biology but in Chemistry and even in Physics as well.El problema científico y filosófico de la independencia o no de la Biología respecto de la Física constituye una constante histórica desde el establecimiento de ambas disciplinas como ciencias modernas. En este trabajo se aborda el problema, según su desarrollo en la segunda mitad del siglo XX, desde una perspectiva disciplinar, con el recurso literario de los .fantasmas. introducido por Schrödinger y en un marco de referencia bidimensional: con una coordenada histórica y otra coordenada española. Dos modos opuestos, aunque convergentes, han florecido a lo largo de la historia: el expansionismo de la Física sobre la Biología y el reduccionismo de la Biología a la Física. En el momento presente dominan en Biología el reduccionismo genético y el reduccionismo molecular. La conclusión es clara: el conocimiento de la constitución estructural matérica . o de los elementos constituyentes de un sistema- no es suficiente para el conocimiento pleno del sistema complejo con sus relaciones intrínsecas y su conducta en y ante el ambiente. Esto no sólo se constata en la Biología sino también en la Química e incluso en la propia Física
