This object is one of a pair of chopsticks which have a poem inscribed on them. The chop sticks are short and squared-off as compared with the typical long and slender style. There is a landscape scene painted on the handle with pine trees and rocks painted in black, brown, and green ink. A part of a poem is above the scene. The poem has been translated below. The ivory has not shown much age so the objects are not incredibly old. They are probably from the late 19th century. The poem is translated as follows: "The mid-way Pavilion, The mountain scenery is ever changeable. So is the weather. It is getting cold. I can feel the thinness of my garment.
