This carved ivory object is a stamp with seal characters. It was most likely used by an artist to sign his works. The inscription in seal script is as yet not deciphered. Since it was made from ivory and not jade, it was probably not for official use. On one side we see a small boy who looks like he is playing with a flag (shown). In the background we notice a large willow tree, symbol of protection and springtime. On the other side we notice another little boy who is playing with a box-and-stick toy (not shown).
