La higiene y el progreso. La institucionalización de la burocracia sanitaria en Manizales. 1920-1940

The intention of this work is to show the worry of the elites and the State in Manizales for the institutionalization of the bureaucracy (specially of the Inspectors of Sanitary Hygiene) sanitary, as a measure to offset the problems of the public hygiene that were increased due to the demographic growth provoked by the economic summit. This way, we demonstrate that the worry for the hygiene was narrowly related to the idea of that this one was necessary to reach the progress. For what it became necessary that the State was regulating and it will give procedure the collective and individual behaviors of the inhabitants of Manizales in the notable period.El propósito de este trabajo es mostrar la preocupación de las élites y el Estado en Manizales por la institucionalización de la burocracia sanitaria (especialmente de los Inspectores de Higiene Sanitaria), como una medida para contrarrestar los problemas de la higiene pública que se acrecentaban debido al crecimiento demográfico provocado por el auge económico. Así, evidenciamos que la preocupación por la higiene estuvo estrechamente relacionada con la idea de que ésta era necesaria para alcanzar el progreso. Por lo que se hizo necesario que el Estado regulara y normatizara los comportamientos colectivos e individuales de los habitantes de Manizales en el período señalado
