La uia Heraclea en el Occidente: mito, arqueología, propaganda, historia

The uia Heraclea is investigated as a mythical, archeological and historical reality. From the myth of Heracles and the cattle of Geryon in the West developed a tradition of a uia Heraclea which can be traced, through literary allusions, along a land route from the Straits of Gibraltar to Italy. As would be expected from its mythical nature, archaeology does not show many traces of the uia Heraclea; however the mythical tradition of Heracles in Iberia and Gaul is utilized by historical figures such as Hannibal and, most importantly, Augustus, to illustrate and extol their own deeds of conquest and greatness in the West.No disponible
