Rileggendo Eumolpo: un’autoctonia rivisitata

The study proposes an examen of the genealogies related to the mythical figure of Eumolpus, in the light of the gap between the local Eleusinian tradition, linked to a remote megarian past and the archaic and classic propaganda of Athens, which transforms the hero into the main (barbarian) character of the wars of Eleusis. The projects aims to demonstrate the continuity between the Eleusinian Eumolpus, progenitor of the ierophantic family, and the homonymic Thracian warrior who opposes to Athens.[it] Lo studio propone un riesame delle genealogie connesse alla figura mitica di Eumolpo, alla luce della frattura tra la tradizione locale eleusina legata a un remoto passato megarese e la propaganda ateniese di epoca arcaica e classica, che trasforma l’eroe nel protagonista (barbaro) delle guerre di Eleusi. Obiettivo dell’indagine è dimostrare la continuità tra l’Eumolpo eleusino progenitore della stirpe ierofantide e l’omonimo guerriero trace avversario di Atene
