The toponyms of Central Spain tell us a great deal about the linguistic influence of the Celts and Romans in the interior of the Peninsula. Philological and statistical analysis of the origin of ancient town names in this region reveals a strong predominance of Celtic toponyms among the Celtiberi and Turmogi, while the Arevaci, Pelendones and Vaccaei have equal proportions of Celtic and pre-Celtic names.
