Gefið er yfirlit yfir skjálftavirkni á Reykjaneshryggnum frá 1955 til mars 2015. Brotlausnir sýna siggengishreyfingar á hryggjarásnum og sniðgengishreyfingar á þverbrotabeltunum. Skjálftavirkni um Bight þvergengið á 56,5°N gefur ekki vísbendingar um hliðrunina, né eru sniðgengis brotlausnir til staðar þar. Einnig finnast skjálftaeyður þar sem V-laga hryggir skera hryggjarásinn. Í gögnunum má sjá að hryggurinn skiptist í tvennt við Bight þvergengið, í norður og suðurhluta. Norðurhlutinn hefur litla skjálftavirkni og tiltölulega slétt landslag miðað við suðurhlutann sem hefur háa skjálftavirkni og gróft landslag. Norðurhluti hryggjarins verður fyrir áhrifum heita reitsins sem er staðsettur undir Íslandi og veldur hærra hitastigi í jarðskorpu...
