FAKTOR-FAKTOR YANG BERHUBUNGAN DENGAN KEJADIAN KARIES GIGI PADA ANAK SEKOLAH DASAR KELAS 1 DI SD INPRES OEBUFU

The problem of dental caries is a problem that often occurs in school-age children. Dental caries is a disease of the dental tissue, namely e-mail, dentine and cementum, which is caused by bacterial plaque metabolic activity. In 2011, it was estimated that 90% of school-age children throughout the world suffer from caries. The purpose of this study was to identify the factors associated with the incidence of dental caries in grade 1 elementary school children at Oebufu Kupang Inpres Elementary School. This type of research is analytic descriptive observation with a cross sectional study design. Samples taken using random sampling techniques. This research was conducted on grade 1 students at the Oebufu Inpres Elementary School with a total sample of 99 children. The statistical test used the chi square test. The results showed that there was no correlation between the frequency of tooth brushing and the incidence of dental caries (p = 0.935). The results also showed that there was a relationship between tooth brushing techniques (p = 0.011), dental cervical health (p = 0,000) with the incidence of dental caries. From the results of the study, it was suggested to the teachers to encourage parents and children to pay more attention to the frequency of brushing their teeth, brush their teeth and check their teeth for health <3 months regularly to avoid dental caries. Karies gigi merupakan suatu penyakit pada jaringan gigi, yaitu email, dentin dan sementum, yang disebabkan oleh aktivitas metabolisme plak bakteri. Pada tahun 2011, diperkirakan bahwa 90% dari anak-anak usia sekolah di seluruh dunia yang menderita karies. Tujuan dari penelitian ini mengidetifikasi faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan kejadian karies gigi pada anak sekolah dasar kelas 1 di SD Inpres Oebufu Kupang. Jenis penelitian ini adalah observasi deskriptif analitik dengan rancangan penelitian cross sectional. Sampel yang diambil dengan menggunakan teknik random sampling. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada siswa kelas 1 di SD Inpres Oebufu dengan jumlah sampel 99 anak. Uji statistik yang digunakan uji chi square. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa tidak ada hubungan antara frekuensi menyikat gigi dengan kejadian karies gigi (p =0,935). Hasil penelitian juga menunjukan bahwa ada hubungan antara teknik menyikat gigi (p=0,011), permerikasaan gigi kesarana kesehatan (p=0,000) dengan kejadian karies gigi. Dari hasil penelitian tersebut disarankan kepada para guru untuk menghimbau kepada orang tua dan anak agar lebih memperhatikan lagi frekuensi menyikat gigi, tekni menyikat gigi dan pemeriksaan gigi kesarana kesehatan <3 bulan secara teratur agar terhindar dari karies gigi.
