The Vth century A.D. is possibly the least known period of Roman Hispania, especially as far as its material culture is concerned: town planning, architecture, pottery, metalwork, glass, and so on. In this paper we tackle a particular area of that material culture within a specific region: the common pottery (table and kitchen ware), imitation of the terra sigillata, in the Segovia province. Our essential aim has been to define its technical, typological and decorative characteristics, as well as the features it bears in common with the terra sigillata, and its significance in the origin of Hispanic-Visigothic pottery.
