Fast radio bursts (FRBs) are millisecond duration radio transients. The first published FRB detection was in 2007, in an archival search of a pulsar survey from 2001, and there are currently only 11 published detections. Most of the FRBs have been detected at the Parkes Radio Telescope in Australia, which has a beam width of 14.0', resulting in poor localization. FRB progenitors and origins are still unknown, and an abundance of progenitor theories have been suggested. FRBs are, however, generally believed to be of extragalactic origin, due to their high dispersion measure, which far exceeds the expected Galactic contribution.
