This essay looks at the difference in the connection between the three main characters in the four Twilight Saga books and likewise the three main characters in the first four books of The Southern Vampire Mysteries. It looks at the two main girls in each series from a feministic point of view, how they cope with the temporary and permanent end of their relationships. In the first chapter the history of the vampire legends and vampire fiction is looked at, followed by a closer look on Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight Saga and Charlaine Harris’s Southern Vampire Mysteries.
