In this thesis we introduce modeling of electron transport through semiconductor nanostructures. An emphasis is put on exploring the effects of the Rasbha spin-orbit interaction on the transport. The Rashba spin-orbit interaction has been a promising candidate for controlling the spin of electrons in the field of semiconductor spintronics. Models of two types of two-dimensional electron gas semiconductor systems where made. One of a four-terminal spin-Hall setup and another of a quantumwire with a parabolic confinement and a periodically modulated potential. It was shown that for a system with a spin-Hall setup there is a large difference in spin conductance for terminals connected with sharp corners, on one the hand, and terminals conn...
