Geothermal turbine components, including blades and rotor, can be subject to corrosion and erosion damage due to exposure to geothermal steam. This is due to moisture in the turbines and the presence of corrosive species such as H2S and CO2 in geothermal steam. To mitigate these effects the components could be protected with resilient coatings. This has been used for steam turbines to some extent but the available products and methods are not necessarily feasible for geothermal environments.
