But when her parents came to know, That me and their daughter together would go, /severe, They locked her up, they bound her, they chained her so I never, nevermore could lay hands upon my dear. Three times a day to her window I would go, To see if my love had forsaken me or no, But when I got there, she made me this reply, /die. Saying, I love the man that loves me, I'll love him till I Away to the army I thought it best to go, To see if I could forget my love or no, but when I got there, the armor shone so bright, The chiefest of my thoughts was my whole heart's delight. Seven months alone I thought I would serve my king, At the end of seven months, I returned home again, When her mother saw me coming, she wrung her hands and cried, Saying, Once my daughter loved you, and for your sake she /died.
