Susceptibilidad auditiva y audiometría tonal en un grupo de trabajadores expuestos a ruido

Objectives: To determine the behavior of hearing susceptibility and tone audiometry in workers exposed to industrial noise. Methodology: Descriptive, retrospective study carried out on 52 workers from a manufacturing company in Cali, Colombia. The variables analyzed were: sociodemographic and occupational characteristics, hearing susceptibility (Wilson Test) and the results of the last three audiological evaluations carried out on the workers. Results: 40% of the sample works in the area with the highest sound pressure (92.9 dB) of the company. The most prevalent antecedents related to noise exposure were: exposure to extra-occupational noise and alcohol consumption. According to the Wilson test, only 3 (5.8%) of the 52 workers studied are susceptible to noise-induced hearing loss. According to the average audiograms, both susceptible and non-susceptible, DTUs are more noticeable in the right ear than in the left ear. Conclusions: Although the Wilson test allowed to detect a smaller group of susceptible workers, the detailed analysis of the tonal audiometry of the non-susceptible group allowed to detect worrying DTUs.Objetivos: Determinar el comportamiento de la susceptibilidad auditiva y el de la audiometría tonal en trabajadores expuestos a ruido industrial. Metodología: Estudio descriptivo, retrospectivo, realizado en 52 trabajadores de una empresa manufacturera de Cali, Colombia. Las variables analizadas fueron: características sociodemográficas y ocupacionales, susceptibilidad auditiva (Test de Wilson) y los resultados de las últimas tres evaluaciones audiológicas realizadas a los trabajadores. Resultados: El 40% de la muestra labora en el área de mayor presión sonora (92,9 dB) de la empresa. Los antecedentes relacionados con exposición a ruido más prevalentes fueron: exposición a ruido extralaboral y consumo de alcohol. Según el test de Wilson solo 3 (5,8%) de los 52 trabajadores estudiados son susceptibles a hipoacusia inducida por ruido. Según los audiogramas promedio tanto en susceptibles como en no susceptibles los DTU son más notorios en oído derecho que en oído izquierdo. Conclusiones: Aunque el test de Wilson permitió detectar un grupo menor de trabajadores susceptibles, el análisis detallado de la audiometría tonal del grupo de no susceptibles permitió detectar DTUs preocupantes
