JP Come all you valiant soldiers, a story I will tell, Hit's of a noted battle, you all remember well, Hit was a mighty strife, and it will cause your blood to chill, Hit was that famous battle that was fought on Shiloh's hill. Hit was on the sixth of Aprile, about the break of day, The drums and fifes were playing for us to march away, My feelings at that moment I do remember still, When first my feet was treading the top of Shiloh's hill. About the hour of sunrise we were called to arms again, Before the day was ended, we fought them hand to hand, The horrors of that day did my heart with anquish fill, To see the dead and dying men that had fell on Shiloh's hill There were men of every nation lie 021 those bloody plains, There was fathers, sons, and brothers that was numbered with the slain, That caused so many houses with mourning to be filled, All for the bloody battle that was fought on Shiloh's hill. The wounded men were crying for help from everywhere, While those that were dying were off'ring Gof their prayers, "Protect my wife and children, if it be Thy holy will," Those was the mournful prayers I heard while I'as on Shiloh's hill.
