Sistem Monitoring Kehadiran Siswa SMKN 5 Jember

The student attendance in the learning process is an important element in the success of an education system. But educational institutions that have student body reaches more than 2000 students such as SMKN 5 Jember facing obstacles in data collection, recapitulation of student attendance as well as there is no fast and accurate system in distributing attendance information to guardian. This is important because monitoring of school students is a shared responsibility between the school and the parents. Currently, information technology has been widely used for the delivery of information quickly. This development is an opportunity for educational institutions to process the information transfer of student attendance monitoring. To solve the problem the State Polytechnic of Jember working together with SMKN 5 Jember developed Student Attendance Monitoring System. A monitoring system built using Sms gateway technology to automatically send messages to a parent or guardian if a student is not present. Sms is chosen as a medium of information because the majority of Indonesian people have used mobile phones. It is intended that the participation of parents to support the course of education can be more optimal and will reduce the absence of students in the learning process in the effective hours of school
