The main goal of the presented study is thedevelopment of industrial hemp fibre reinforced biocomposites.Matrix materials used are as follows: thermoplastic starch basedsystems, blends of biodegradable polymers – poly(vinylalcohol)and microbially produced polyester polyhydroxybutyrate. Thecorrelation among hemp fibre content, matrix composition andcharacteristics of biocomposites has been demonstrated.Hydrophobic finishing of reinforced biocomposites with RucostarDDD diminishes moisture absorption. Biodegradation ofbiocomposites has been found to be composition dependent
