leadership—and service to Heifer International and its service to individuals in some thirty-nine states across the United States and more than 125 countries around the world—the University acknowledges its commitment to service not only through research and through education and through you, its graduates, to the people of Arkansas, but its service to the world as well. In addition, it is a special privilege and pleasure for me to offer a few remarks to you, the Class of 2006. You graduate from the University of Arkansas at a special time in its history as well as your own. The University has just completed a successful one billion dollar campaign to invest in the students who will follow you and to invest in the work that is done here. The University’s growing recognition nationally and internationally will be something that you can take forward with you. You will also enjoy its ever increasing value as one of the jewels of Fayetteville, Arkansas---recently recognized by Forbes Magazine as one of the nation's top ten cities---and in many respects its service as an anchor in one of the most economically dynamic regions in the United States, with a select group of businesses admired as first in class in their respected industries. And yes, the Class of 2006, you represent the University in the greatest and most significant way. More than 3,000 graduates strong, along with your twenty-seven straight-A First Ranked Senior Scholars, you clearly reflect the University's commitment to educational excellence, scholarship,
