HOMMARD Jean Baptiste Jean Baptiste Hommard arrived in La. on the Profond that left La Rochelle with officers and workers for the Law Concession in June of 1720. He is listed as jean Baptiste Honnart (Conrad 1st Families, Vol I:83). He was born ca 1698-99 in Neuilly St. Front, Diocese of Soisson, Picardy. His marriage record does not give parents but it is assumed that he was son of Louis Hommard and Elizabeth Caya, Callin, Cajalas and brother of Elizabeth and Adrienne Hommard, passagers also on Profond. He is shown to be of the Arkansas Law Colony when married 18 Jan 1724 (St Louis Cathedral Marriage 1720-1730) to Anne Marguerite Mossel listed as native of Minden in Hanry [?] widow of Jean Danferster when she remarried in 1742 she is listed as Anne Marguerite Martel, native of Frankfort (De Ville, 1st settlers of Point Coupée) By 1731, he was living on the West side of the Mississippi River from Point Coupée to New Orleans. He owned the farm on which he lived with wife, 3 children and 2 negroes. (Conrad, 1st Families, Vol II, 61) 6 Dec 1738 Jean Baptiste Homard of Point Coupée claimed expense of journey to N.O. on citation of Council re: his negroes accused of theft (LAQ Vol 16:143) He died at Point Coupée 3 July 1740 and buried there 4 July 1740.
