Abstract:This paper will examine prevalent barriers to health care services faced by refugees and asylum seekers in Canada, a country that promises universal health care to all. Through applying the anti-oppressive (social work) theory, it becomes evident that health care disparities are a pressing issue for oppressed groups like refugees and asylum seekers in Canada. This analysis will be examined in the first and second section. In the third section of the paper, several recommendations will be made to ensure that the Canadian government and all key actors eliminate oppressive policies on the basis of immigration status in order to have high quality and accessible health care for all refugees and asylum seekers.Résumé :Cet essai examinera...
