In 1908 George Swinburne founded the Eastern Suburbs Technical College. In the century since, the college, which quickly adopted the name of its founder, has grown to become today's Swinburne University of Technology. As it approaches its centenary, Swinburne continues to expand on the strengths of its past and has grown to around 40,000 students and 2,000 staff, with five campuses in Melbourne and one in Malaysia.
