Mary Boland, ca. 1916

Pen and ink drawing (ca. 1916) of American stage and film actress Mary Boland (1882-1965), who began acting at the age of fifteen. She debuted on Broadway in 1907 in 'The Ranger' with Dustin Farnum and later performed in comedies with John Drew, Humphrey Bogart and Charles Ruggles. Boland made the transition to silent films in 1915 and sound films in 1931. Late in her career, she appeared in stage, film and television productions.
