Extensible Provisioning Protocol (EPP) Based Domain Registrar System

The project was to build an Internet Domain Registrar System (DRS) implementing Extensible Provisioning Protocol (EPP) as per specification described in the final version of “Request For Comments” (RFCs) 5730 to 5734 and in compliance with requirements from the Internet Corporation For Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). The system is intended to be used by a domain name registrar, an organization or commercial entity that manages the reservation of Internet domain names such as google.com or microsoft.com. A domain name registrar must be accredited by a generic top-level domain (gTLD) registry such as VeriSign for .COM, .NET, .CC, .JOBS and .TV, Afilias for .INFO, Neustar for .BIZ, Public Interest Registry (PIR) for .ORG, CentralNIC for .US.COM, .UK.COM etc. and/or a country code top-level domain (ccTLD) registry such as Nominet for.UK. The management is done in accordance with the guidelines of the designated domain name registries under ICANN. Domain registrar system (DRS) is a client system to domain registry servers but a service-provider system to the domain registrants, which could be an individual, an organization, a commercial entity, an educational institute, or other service providers such as ISPs (Internet service providers), domain resellers and Web hosting companies, etc
