The purpose of this study was to explore client knowledge about the practice of occupational therapy, specifically toward parallel task groups in an inpatient psychiatric setting. Data collection included pre and post self-report questionnaires, semi-structured interview, Occupational Therapy Task Observation Scale (OTTOS), as well as observations during regularly scheduled task group times. Findings were reported on an individual basis, identifying the participants' individual needs, activities, and scoring on the OTTOS. Emerging themes were then identified in regard to the benefits, the purpose, and the direct connection to the activities for specific skill needs during the group.
