Mildred Bell Brown joined the Upper Iowa University faculty as a new professor of Physical Education for Women in 1925. She had graduated from high school in Faribault, MN at the age of 16; attended Illinois Women’s College from 1922-1924; then attended the Chicago Normal School of Physical Education where she graduated in 1925. For the two years that Mildred was at Upper Iowa University, she taught Physical Education, while she also enrolled as a student to obtain a Bachelor of Arts in Romance Languages. While she was teaching, Mildred also directed the May Fete and Women’s Athletics demonstrations and participated as a student in A. C.
