長期に血液透析を受けている患者では、運動機能の障害が日常生活を制限しQOLの低下をもたらしている。これらには筋力、筋持久力の著しい低下などの骨格筋自身の変化と、筋活動時に十分な血流増加をもたらすべき血管の拡張機能の障害が大きく関わっている。本稿では、血液透析を受けている患者における、骨格筋収縮機能と血管拡張機能のそれぞれが、運動トレーニングによってどのように改善するのか、あるいは変化をきたすのかを概説する。Muscle strength and endurance are extremely reduced, and vasodilation is also decreased in patients receiving hemodialysis compared with normal subjects. These impairments induce functional disability of daily activities and decrease quality of life. On the other hand, it is reported that exercise training has beneficial effects on functional capacity and health related quality of life.
