The purpose of the article is to analyze the challenges that the Institutional Student Assessment System (SIEE) demands for teachers. The qualitative approach is assumed and the design is documentary. The findings show the predominance and influence that educators have by traditional paradigms that prevent and delay the transformation that is desired with the SIEE; The evaluation function limited to the results for the assignment of a qualification persists, in ignorance that the meaning and purposes of the evaluation should focus on obtaining information to propitiate and promote significant learning oriented to the development of reflective criticism and autonomy of the students and the rest of the school actors.
