The purpose of this work was to determine the effectiveness of cooperative learning as a methodological strategy to mediate reading comprehension in fifth grade students. The research was developed under the socio-critical paradigm, qualitative approach and action research modality, following the stages of diagnosis, action and execution of an Action Plan design and its implementation, evaluation and reflection in the context of the National Basic School "Elías Toro", in the city of Caracas.
