English Language Learner (ELL) students are becoming the fastest growing population in schools in the United States. Among ELL students, Hispanics have the distinction of being the most uneducated ethnic group with the highest dropout rate. The No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001 outlines the importance of parental involvement in helping students attain high academic success and therefore it is highly suggested that parents become involved with their children’s school. Many Hispanic parents of ELL students are not involved with their child’s education due to many barriers such as low socioeconomic status, limited education of parents, cultural differences, and the lack of communication between families and the school.
