Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) is prevalent in the classroom, but very few teachers know how to distinguish it from other disorders such as ADHD or behavioral issues. Even with diagnosis, teachers struggle to implement interventions without taking limited time and resources away from the rest of the class. After researching SPD, talking with teachers and my community partner, I determined that a Teacher Toolbox would be an effective way of providing support to the entire classroom. The Toolbox includes numerous items and activities designed to help children with SPD better function in a variety of classroom situations.
