Inclusion of LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning) perspectives in public schools has historically been minimal at best. As of 2011, with California’s passage of Senate Bill 48/The FAIR Education Act, inclusion of LGBTQ perspectives is not only encouraged in schools, but also required. In this Capstone project, the researchers will investigate the current levels of LGBTQ inclusion in local public schools through interviews of school administrators, board members, and teachers. Our findings at the local school level combined with extensive literature research will make up the necessary information to be included in our informational brochure.
