Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) college students face many oppressive issues in and outside of the classroom. Scholars help identify the various issues LGBT students are confronted with in the classroom and provide alternative solutions such as implementing an anti-oppressive pedagogy and embracing a safe and comfortable environment. Also, a study done at California State University Monterey Bay (CSUMB) helps to unravel the types of issues LGBT students face in the classroom and what educators, particularly CSUMB educators can do to help remedy these oppressive attitudes. With positive changes in the classroom, LGBT and other marginalized students can become part of an education that empowers them, rather than oppresses them
