The Senior Nutrition Screening Initiative identifies individuals who are at high risk for nutritional problems. The Monterey County Area Agency on Aging uses its self-assessment protocol as its intake tool. The tool was developed in 1991 and is outdated. The inability of the agency to refer seniors for nutritional counseling is an ethical dilemma. The agency\u27s database does not fully utilize its demographics. To remedy the problem a teaching curriculum and portion control kit were developed; a survey administered, intake tool redesigned, and referral guidelines developed along with suggestions for better use of Managing and Reporting Services to seniors database
