Upon the abundance of literature pertaining to multiculturalism and multicultural education, there appeared to be a large gap in the research: how do minority teachers teach minority students when in reality, they are both the majority? In an attempt to fill a portion of the gap, a study was conducted at Fremont Elementary in Salinas where not only the teachers and students were predominantly Latino, but the community as well. Key elements for the study consisted of teacher surveys and one-on-one interviews with both students and teachers.
