The Earth is a dynamic system shaped by complex and interrelated physical processes that operate across multiple scales in time and space. The goal of this course is to provide a foundational understanding of the Earth System in the context of contemporary societal issues. We will accomplish this by examining individual components of the Earth System, including the atmosphere, biosphere, geosphere, and hydrosphere, to learn how each functions individually and also to understand how they interact.
