Is There an Obesity Paradox?

Obese people have excess body fat. Overweight people have excess weight (weight includes bone, fat and muscle). Currently overweight and obesity are defined by body mass index (BMI: weight in Kg/height in meters squared, kg/m2). In adults, overweight is defined as a BMI of 25-29.9 kg/m2; obesity is defined as a BMI >30 kg/m2.
