Father Leo, as he was commonly called, earned a Bachelor’s degree in philosophy, sociology and Sacred Theology from the Catholic University in 1966. Father Leo, also received a Masters of Education in Psychology from Springfield College in 1970, to then earn a Doctorate of Education at the University of Massachusetts in 1976. Father Leo worked in a spiritual capacity in Springfield College from 1976 to 2006, becoming the director of the College’s United Campus Ministry & Spiritual Life center, when he retired to focus on his health. Richard B. Flynn, President of the College, said the following quote about Father Leo: “Through his leadership in developing a true interfaith ministry here, in his outstanding teaching and mentoring abilities, and in the countless other ways in which he touches our lives, his life and work have truly exemplified the Humanics philosophy”. Father Leo expressed affection on his experience on working on the College in the following way: “Springfield College has been my singular love in life for many years. I will always have great fondness, respect, and appreciation for the College and the people who are part of it”
