Abstract

This photograph depicts the text of a sign in the library of the International YMCA Training School, now Springfield College, around the turn of the twentieth century. The sign refers to a students pledge to honor the Colleges policy on Open shelf in the library. This item was kept with photographs of the library taken in 1898. This sign adorned the wall of the first College Library which was housed in the Administration Building before it moved into its own building, the Marsh Memorial Library, in 1912.The Administration Building originally contained a library, dormitory space, classrooms, and dining facilities.
