Frederick D. Fagg, Class of 1888

This photograph portrays Frederick Dowe Fagg, class of 1888 of the School for Christian Workers, now Springfield College.Frederick Fagg began his work in YMCA facilities in 1886 and, after completion of his college career, he continued in several YMCA facilities: 1889, General Secretary in Westfield, Ma.; 1890, General Secretary in Charlestown, Ma.; 1891-1893, General Secretary in Evanston, Ill.; 1894-1899, General Secretary at the 26th Ward Branch in Brooklyn, N.Y.; 1900-1903, General Secretary at the Brooklyn East District Branch; 1904-1907/08, General Secretary in New Britain, Ct.; 1908/09 -1912, Assistant Secretary in Denver, Co.; and General Secretary in San Diego, Cal. from 1913-1917. The years of 1918 and 1919 it is presumed he continued working with the "Y" but it is undetermined where he was placed. From 1920-1923 he served as the State Secretary at New Haven, Ct. He retired January 1, 1924 and returned to San Diego, Cal. He died April 5, 1942. Fagg's faded autograph is also noted at the bottom of the photo.A pencilled written caption on the back of the photograph reads "oval 1 1/2 X 2 175 F. D. Fagg"
