Polish and Russian students postcard

A photograph showing Polish and Russian Jewish students in an English class taught by students of the International YMCA Training School, now Springfield College. The image shows the students sitting in chairs looking toward an easle holding information. A bit of an American Flag can be seen on the far wall. No information is given about exactly where the photograph was taken, but it does appear that it was used later in the International Young Men's Christian Association College publication entitled "Twenty Years Growth" on page 34. Notes can be seen written on the edges.A handwritten caption on the backside center reads "Cheney YMCA College". Another caption on the backside right reads "Poles Russian Jews"; The verso, not shown here, of the postcard reads "R.L. Cheney, YMCA College." We are not sure if he is pictured here or if Ralph L. Cheney was a member of the Class of 1901 and, later, a professor at the Springfield YMCA Training School and College. In 1907 Cheney, a former YMCA secretary in both Albany and Niagara Falls, New York, became head of the Secretarial department at Springfield College, a position he held until 1924
