This photograph is of Springfield College's 1996 women's track and field team, coached by Jim Pennington. The team finished with a record of 3-3 for the season and tied for 24th place at the Outdoor NCAA National Championships.Pennington became head coach of both cross country and track & field in 1985. Pennington earned his bachelor’s degree in physical education from Towson (Md.) State in 1974 and his Master’s in elementary physical education from Georgia in 1976. He was an assistant coach at Georgia for three years. Prior to joining the SC staff, Pennington was at Towson State where he was an assistant men’s track and field coach and head men’s cross country coach.
