Distinguished Professor of Humanics John C. Cox (c. 1992)

This photograph shows Springfield College faculty member John C. Cox standing in front of a banner printed with R. Tait McKenzie's "The Joy of Effort." This photograph was taken during the 1992-1993 academic year, when Cox was awarded the position of Distinguished Professor of Humanics.John Chalmer Cox (1935 - May 18, 2013) taught psychology at Springfield College for roughly thirty years. He also earned his bachelor’s degree ('61), master’s degree ('63), and certificate of advanced studies in psychology ('63) from Springfield College. While a student, he was elected freshman class president. After graduating, Cox was a communication specialist for the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, and he then took on the role of director of admissions, guidance, and alumni affairs at Monson Academy in Massachusetts. Before joining Springfield College as a faculty member in 1965, he served as the director of the counseling center
