This is a portrait of Springfield College alumnus Clarence E. Rayburn, class of 1925.Rayburn spent his first two years of high school in Brooklyn, Iowa. After taking a year off, he finished high school in Whittier, California. Rayburn then spent two tears in the army, where he served overseas. In 1923, he earned his BA from Whittier College, and in 1925 he earned his B.P.E. from Springfield College. After graduating from Springfield, Rayburn served as the director of physical education at a YMCA in Santiago, Chile. During this time, he introduced volleyball and basketball to Chileans and coached the national track team to victory in the 1926 South American Olympia.
