This lantern slide, “Joseph J. Davey, Class of 1894,” is a portrait of YMCA Training School (now known as Springfield College) alumnus Joseph J. Davey.Prior to attending the YMCA Training School in Springfiled, Massachusetts, Davey worked as the Assistant Secretary of the Young Men’s Institute in New York. After graduation from the Springfield campus in 1894, he served as the Secretary of the Rockland, Massachusetts YMCA facility (1895 - 1896). From 1896 until to 1907, he served as the Boys' Secretary at the West side Branch of the YMCA facility in New York City.
