A photograph of the south end of McCurdy Natatorium.The pool, a part of Judd Gymnasia, the oldest building on Springfield College's present campus, was completed in April of 1913. It was 24 x 60 feet and 1 inch long so, according to McCurdy, there could be no dispute over swimming records. A gift of Standard Oil President Herbert Pratt, who requested the pool be named after physical education department head Dr. McCurdy, cost $23,000 to build. It was closed on March 18, 1968 and the swimming pool was replaced by Linkletter Natatorium.
