During the Snowpocalypse in 2013, people on dialysis suffered excessive stress and adverse health events. Disaster planning can minimize the impact of disasters for those who are medically at risk. Attendees will learn about the medically at risk non institutionalized populations. Presenter will differentiate between vulnerable populations, functional and access needs and medically at risk populations for disaster planning purposes. Attendees will also learn specific strategies on disaster planning with any client who is medically at risk. Presenter will review a specific case example: disaster planning with a person on dialysis
